MUSIC TO UX

Cehie Kim

What’s your career background?

I’m a classically trained professional Cellist and I was happy to be working for various renowned orchestras in Berlin. Though I was satisfied with my career, I always had an open eye for working in another industry due to physical & psychological hardships.

What interested you about UX?

I’m a curious person with multiple interests. I have some background in fine arts and working experience in interior design & corporate branding. During the pandemic, my brother suggested that I look into UX design since it has everything I enjoy doing. Once I learned more about it, I was convinced that UX design was my second calling in life.

What did you like about Valentin as being your UX mentor?

Valentin is dedicated. He really cares about your development and always does his best to help you in any way he can. He is attentive, encouraging, and supportive.

Did Valentin help you to get a UX role?

YES! Valentin helped me land my first job as a full-time UX/UI designer. He helped me build my design portfolio from scratch and coached me through my application process. Valentin’s feedback was always prompt, honest, and sincere. He also helped me to stay positive at all times and this was big for me.

Would you recommend Valentin as a mentor to others?

100%. I would definitely, without a question, recommend Valentin as a mentor to anyone who is looking into UX. He is knowledgeable, relevant, and has working experience in the UX field in depth. Let me put it this way, without Valentin’s mentoring, I couldn’t have changed a career within a year in a completely new industry.
